The Anubias Nancon is a rare and striking anubias aquarium plant that adds a lush, natural touch to any planted aquarium. This plant is an Anubias hybrid, created by aquarist Bob Gasser, from a cross between Anubias barteri “Nana” and Anubias afzelii "Congensis". Known for its durability and beautiful green foliage, the Anubias Nancon is ideal for both beginners and experienced aquarists.
This compact plant typically grows to a height of 10–15 cm, making it perfect for foreground or midground placement in aquariums. Its broad, deep-green leaves provide excellent contrast against lighter plants and can be attached to rocks, driftwood, or aquarium décor. Unlike many other aquatic plants, it does not need to be buried in substrate, which makes it versatile and easy to work with. It can also be grown in emersed form, making it suitable for paludariums and humid terrariums as well.
This aquarium plant is very easy to care for and suitable for all levels of aquarists.
This aquatic plant thrives in low to moderate light. Strong direct light may cause algae growth on its leaves.
The ideal temperature range is 22–28°C (72–82°F), making it suitable for most tropical aquariums.
CO2 is not required for healthy growth, but adding it can encourage slightly faster development.
It prefers a pH between 6.0 and 7.5 with soft to moderately hard water.
It is a slow-growing aquatic plant, which reduces frequent trimming and maintenance.
This aquarium plant is propagated by rhizome division. Simply cut a healthy portion of the rhizome and attach it to another rock, or piece of wood.
