Cryptocoryne Wendtii 'Brown' - Live Freshwater Aquarium Plant (Bare Root)

Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Brown' is one of the most popular and reliable freshwater aquarium plants in the hobby. Valued for its rich bronze-brown coloration and exceptional hardiness, this variety is ideal for aquarists seeking a low-maintenance plant that adapts well to a wide range of aquarium conditions.

Leaf size, texture, and coloration may vary depending on lighting, nutrients, and water parameters, giving each plant a natural and unique appearance. Its steady growth and resilience make it suitable for both beginner and experienced aquarists.

Key Features

• Classic Cryptocoryne wendtii variety with brown to bronze foliage
• Hardy, adaptable plant suitable for low-light and low-tech aquariums
• Slow, steady growth that is easy to manage
• Thrives in both soft and hard freshwater conditions
• Reproduces naturally through runners once established

Benefits

Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Brown' adds warm, earthy tones to planted aquariums, creating contrast against green plants and hardscape. Its dense leaf structure provides shelter for small fish and invertebrates while contributing to a balanced and natural aquascape. Because it does not require intense lighting or CO₂, it is an excellent long-term plant for stable aquarium layouts.

Care Instructions

Lighting
Performs well under low to moderate lighting. Higher light may influence leaf color but is not required for healthy growth.

Water Conditions
Thrives in freshwater aquariums with temperatures between 72-82°F (22-28°C) and a pH range of 6.0-7.5. Stable conditions are essential.

Substrate & Placement
Plant bare-root specimens directly into nutrient-rich substrate. Best suited for foreground to midground placement, depending on tank size.

CO₂ & Fertilization
CO₂ supplementation is not required. Root tabs or liquid fertilizers may support healthier growth but are optional.

Maintenance
Minimal maintenance needed. Avoid frequent relocation once planted. Growth is slow and steady.

Growth & Propagation

Once established, Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Brown' spreads naturally by sending out runners that develop into new plants. Allow time for the plant to settle before expecting visible expansion.

Perfect For

• Beginner-friendly freshwater aquariums
• Low-tech and low-light planted tanks
• Foreground and midground aquascaping
• Community tanks with fish, shrimp, and snails
• Aquarists seeking reliable, long-term plants

Why Choose Cryptocoryne Wendtii 'Brown'?

• One of the most proven and dependable Cryptocoryne varieties
• Attractive brown coloration with natural variation
• Requires minimal care once established
• Ideal for both new setups and mature aquariums

Important Notes

Cryptocoryne plants may experience temporary leaf melt after planting as they adjust to new aquarium conditions. This is normal and is usually followed by healthy new growth. Live plants naturally vary in size, shape, and coloration based on growing conditions. Images are for reference only.
