Ludwigia inclinata var. Verticillata White (commonly known as white Ludwigia or ludwigia sp white) is a striking stem plant from the Onagraceae family, native to Central and South America where it grows along rivers and wetlands. In its emersed form (grown above water), the leaves appear more rounded and green, while in its submersed form (grown underwater) the plant transforms into long, narrow leaves with creamy-white tips that aquascapers love. Its appearance is delicate yet vibrant, with soft white tops blending into light green stems, making it one of the most elegant aquarium underwater plants. This unique fish aquarium plant can reach a height of 12–20 inches (30–50 cm), making it ideal for the midground to background of your aquarium. For best results, plant several stems together in a nutrient-rich substrate to create a dense, eye-catching group of aquatic live plants.
Ludwigia White is a high-demand plant, but with the right setup, it rewards you with unmatched beauty.
Requires strong lighting to maintain its bright white tops. Without enough light, it may turn more green.
Best between 72–82°F (22–28°C). Keep conditions stable for healthy growth.
CO2 injection is highly recommended. It brings out the plant’s signature white color and supports fast growth.
Ludwigia White grows best in slightly soft to medium water with a pH of 6.0 - 7.2, and regular fertilization helps maintain strong, healthy leaves.
Medium to fast under high light and CO2. Regular trimming keeps the plant compact and prevents shading.
Easy to propagate by cutting healthy stems and replanting them into the substrate. New roots form quickly, helping you grow a larger group of fish aquarium live plants.
