Water Sprite (Ceratopteris Thalictroides) – Live Floating Aquarium Plants

The Water Sprite (Ceratopteris Thalictroides) also known as Indian fern , is a popular choice for freshwater aquariums due to its vibrant green color and delicate, fern-like leaves. Whether rooted or used as a floating water sprite, this plant adds depth and dimension to any aquascape. Easy to grow and care for, the water sprite aquarium plant thrives in a wide range of tank setups, making it ideal for beginners and experienced aquarists alike.

Benefits

  • Provides natural shelter for fry and shy fish.
  • Acts as a natural filter by absorbing excess nutrients and reducing algae growth.
  • Improves oxygenation and promotes healthy tank conditions.
  • Offers flexible planting options – float it or anchor it in the substrate.
  • Creates a lush, natural look in any freshwater aquarium.

Care Guide

This hardy plant is low-maintenance and adapts well to various water conditions, whether you use it as a floating water sprite or root it into the substrate. It's an excellent addition for aquarists looking to enrich their aquascape with a fast-growing and visually appealing species.

Light

Moderate to high lighting is ideal for optimal growth. Brighter light encourages bushier foliage, especially when used as a floating water sprite plant.

Temperature

It thrives in temperatures ranging from 68°F to 82°F (20°C to 28°C), making it suitable for most tropical aquariums.

CO2

CO2 supplementation is optional. While not necessary, it can enhance growth and appearance in high-tech tanks.

Growth Rate

Fast-growing – Water Sprite quickly spreads across the tank, especially when floated, helping to improve water quality.

Propagation

Water Sprite grows baby plants on its own. You can gently separate these and either plant them in the substrate or let them float until they grow roots.

By following these simple care tips, you can grow Water Sprite (Ceratopteris thalictroides) with ease and enjoy its soft, flowing greenery in your aquarium.

Plant’s came wrapped nicely, all were healthy. Came very quick. Only reason I have to reorder every few months is because fish eat them :).
